BREEAM assessments

BREEAM assessments

BREEAM (the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) helps investors, developers, design and construction teams and occupiers to use natural resources more efficiently.

It was created as a cost-effective means of encouraging sustainable development across all market sectors. Most planning authorities in the UK have a BREEAM requirement and public sector organisations now include BREEAM assessment within their procurement practices.

BREEAM credits are awarded in ten categories according to performance, two of which are relevant to Spiralite and insulation.

  • Embodied impact: volume weighted thermal resistance of insulation assessed against the Green Guide rating (our panels are A-rated in BRE Green Guide- Jan 2010)
  • Responsible Sourcing: 80% designated as being responsibly sourced (our panels are 100% responsibly sourced and manufactured to the highest standards under a management system certified to ISO 14001: 2007)

Spiralite is also recognised within BREEAM for its exemplary performance defined as ‘innovative’ building technology. Sustainability is no longer a wish but an essential element of a good quality building which works efficiently both for the people using it and within the environment.
